New Shirts Coming Soon!

Here is a mock-up of a new t-shirt design that I hope to get ordered this week. The whimsical design plays on the confusion many people have over what to call the sport, and the back-and-forth ball action.

LIMITED EDITION!! I'm just trying to help pay for my trip to play in the U.S. Open. So this will be a one-time-only printing of 36 shirts - when they are gone, they are gone!

They will be available in black or charcoal grey, printed two-color (white and yellow), in sizes XS to XXL. Price is $12 each.

PRE-ORDER NOW: If you want one, let me know and I will set one aside for you. If you need one mailed, add $5.

The Table Tennis "Perfect Storm" is Coming!

A "perfect storm" is a situation where a rare combination of circumstances come together to result in an event of unusual magnitude.

Well, this July, table tennis players can experience a "perfect storm". Las Vegas will host both the U.S. Open and the ITTF World Tour - Americas Challenge... at the same time! This is great news to all U.S. players, but especially to neighboring Utahns. Such great table tennis, so close for Utah players!

From July 2 - July 6, some of the very best players in this country and some of the best in the world will be competing in the same place, at the same time. So, whether you are looking for top-level competition, top-level spectating, or both, you ought to consider heading to Las Vegas.

You can find details for both tournaments on-line at www.usatt.org and www.ittf.com. The USATT site also includes an on-line application. Applications must be postmarked by May 18, so start making your plans now. Don't miss this rare opportunity to witness the best of the best!

Players hoping to carpool to the event should contact organizers in your area. Or you could add a comment to this post and I will forward it on.

Testing a new t-shirt idea

(Second version, as of 4/8/13. Click for larger view)
Most of the table tennis t-shirt designs available via the internet are awful. So I am always thinking about what would make for a more interesting design.

I have roughed out a new design and created this mock-up. It is simple and has a playful feel. It plays on the confusion some people have with what to call our sport and how they "go back and forth" with the two names... and of course the back and forth action of our sport.

It amuses me, but I'm not sure it would sell. What do you think? Might you be interested in such a shirt?

Would love your comments! Please send your feedback on how it could be improved.

And this one, a variation on the theme. This one focuses on the international nature of the sport, but still plays on people not knowing what to call the sport. The languages represented include: Vietnamese, Spanish, Russian, French, Korean, German, Swedish, Hindi, Polish, Greek, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croation/Czech, Italian and Japanese!

Your ideas?
